How to participate
Projects are run in locations across the state by community-based not-for-profit organisations, peak industry bodies and local councils.

Community Work Skills
The Community Work Skills program assists unemployed and underemployed Queensland job seekers to gain nationally recognised skills, job preparation assistance and qualifications up to a certificate III level. The program was expanded in 2025–26 to include industry pilots and job preparation only projects.

Work Skills Traineeships
The Work Skills Traineeships program enables unemployed Queenslanders to be employed on community, construction or environmental projects while undertaking a traineeship.

Get Set for Work
The Get Set for Work program provides disadvantaged young Queenslanders aged 15–19 years with nationally recognised training to enable them to successfully transition to employment and/or further education and training.

Youth Skills
The Youth Skills program provides nationally recognised training and employment support for 15–24 year olds who are engaged with, or at risk of engaging with, Youth Justice Services, Queensland Corrective Services or the Queensland Police Service.
Projects are run across the state by local not-for-profit specialist youth organisations.
Community Foundation Skills
The Community Foundation Skills program assists disadvantaged Queenslanders with low level language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills to gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to participate successfully in a modern knowledge economy.
Projects are run across the state by local community-based not-for-profit organisations.
First Start
First Start provides wage subsidies to local councils and not-for-profit community-based organisations (CBOs)/industry groups to employ additional trainees. Contact local councils or CBOs near you to enquire about potential traineeship opportunities.
