Industry must invest in workforce planning to stay competitive and grow sustainably in rapidly changing economic conditions and technological advances, and during disruption across supply chains.

The Workforce planning for industry guide has been developed for those involved in planning for the future of their industry, including:

  • industry peak bodies
  • individuals and organisations working in economic development and government.

The guide is informed by Jobs Queensland’s approach to workforce planning and development, and other relevant research and resources. It promotes an improved focus on industry workforce planning and development across Queensland.

It recognises that industries may have unique workforce challenges and opportunities. Each industry requires a highly skilled workforce that aligns with the skills needs of that industry as it grows.

The guide outlines a 4-stage approach to develop an industry workforce plan.

  • Stage 1 – Get started
  • Stage 2 – Gather information
  • Stage 3 – Identify issues and find solutions
  • Stage 4 – Develop, implement and monitor.
