Finding stable work can be tough, especially for culturally diverse communities, mature-aged job seekers, and those building skills and confidence.
The Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) initiative is making the job search easier through a Strategix Training Group and MultiLink partnership.
This program equips participants with practical skills, qualifications, and hands-on training in transport, warehousing, and manufacturing industries. Delivered by Strategix Training Group, participants earn a Certificate III in Driving Operations, Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways, and complete First Aid and CPR training. They also gain heavy rigid vehicle driving experience at Loganholme using an array of trucks, building confidence to pursue professional driving careers.
The program goes beyond technical skills, offering personalised support with training and support plans, mentoring, English and IT assistance, life skills workshops, resume writing, and interview preparation. Post-training, MultiLink’s Job Hub helps participants transition into the workforce.
Nikita Williams, a SQW participant, said the program opened new doors for her career in the trucking industry.
“Being a female coming into the truck business – this has definitely opened up my variety of learning and knowledge with everything on the roads and the career I could honestly look for,” she said.
Thomas Davidson from Strategix Training Group credits the partnership with MultiLink for helping participants move from training into jobs.
“We worked together to deliver the training, support participants and help prepare them for work,” Thomas said.
The program is a lifeline for Queenslanders ready to take the next step toward sustainable employment. As participant Jody Edwards puts it:
“It’s the perfect environment for anyone who may feel anxious or unsure about starting something new.”
