Asset College wins Queensland’s top training provider award
Asset College won Large Training Provider of the Year at the 2026 Queensland Training Awards thanks to its performance across all aspects of training.
Recognised for its holistic approach to training which focuses on linking outcomes to employment through strong employer partnerships, practical scenario-based delivery and flexible online learning, Asset College added to its previous win in this Queensland Training Awards category in 2020.
Among the specific programs that highlight Asset’s success is their Diploma of Operational Safety. Developed in consultation with more than 100 industry stakeholders, this course services a critical skills gap for industry.
The diploma addresses the rising issue of occupational violence and aggression, equipping professionals with practical skills in risk assessment, communication and de-escalation.
Asset College was also recognised for its programs’ support of diverse cohorts, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, veterans, long-term jobseekers and women entering non-traditional industries.
This support is exemplified by the organisation’s approach to training for Australian Defence Force veterans. Led by Managing Director Mark Costello, a former Infantry Soldier in the Australian Army, Asset College brings lived experience to this work.
Through Recognition of Prior Learning, tailored pathways and strong industry connections, veterans are supported to translate their skills into meaningful civilian employment.
Mark said the award came as a welcome recognition of the efforts of his organisation to deliver inclusive training, industry engagement and innovative course design at scale.
“To win this award in a room full of very high quality providers is a fantastic opportunity and it’s great to be recognised,” Mark said.
“We've always aimed for a high standard and we've always listened to industry. I think listening to industry has allowed us to tailor programs to suit varying cohorts that work for different employers.”
“We deliver targeted training for women in security and for indigenous community security and we deliver training to people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We also deliver a lot of transition training for defence and emergency services personnel.
“Each of these have their unique skills, their unique opportunities, and require unique training programs, which is where we come into it.”
Asset College will now go on to contest their award on the national stage at the Australian Training Awards to be held in Sydney on 20 November 2026.
